We start everyone here — it’s our way of onboarding new members to Music City Boxing. Think of it as new member orientation: we cover gym memberships, training schedule, and the process for sparring and competing. Whether it’s your first time in a boxing gym or you have experience, this class lets us get acquainted, answer questions, and assess your current skill level.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • 60–90 minute orientation session
  • No gloves or hand wraps needed
  • Proper stance, punch form, body mechanics
  • Membership, schedule, and gym overview
  • Skill level assessment by coaching staff

BOXING FUNDAMENTALS

Learn and practice fundamentals from footwork and mobility to defense and proper punching technique. This class is non-contact and focuses on building the habits that everything else is constructed upon with an emphasis on repetition — because without fundamentals, nothing else matters.

  • Punch technique in shadowboxing and on the heavy bag

INTRO TO SPARRING & TECH SPARRING

SCHEDULE
Thurs 7:00am / Thurs 5:30pm

While all of the Boxing Fundamentals classes are non-contact, the Thursday morning and evening classes are hybrid classes split into three phases. This is where we bridge the gap from the classes to live action in the ring. Phase one consists of non-contact drills where you become familiar with our sparring drills by working with a partner. Once a level of understanding is displayed in phase one, you suit up in full sparring gear and graduate to phase two, Intro to Sparring. This is where we execute the same partner drills but with full contact and become acquainted with the physical aspect of boxing. Phase three is Tech Sparring. Higher pace, real situations, and more strategy. Learn how to attack and defend at various ranges, deal with different styles from pressure fighters to counterpunchers, while continuing to grow your ring IQ.

The proving ground. Supervised rounds where you apply everything you’ve learned against another boxer. Controlled, coached, and purposeful — this isn’t about brawling. It’s about being intentional with your work and getting better under pressure.

Want to compete? Follow our proven process from Intro to Boxing all the way to Live Sparring and show that you have developed an understanding of proper fundamentals and conditioning to the correct techniques and tactical strategies. We give everyone the opportunity to compete at Music City Boxing as long as you follow our process. You’ve learned how to box — now learn how to be developed into a fighter.
